Before being crowned the winner of the World Series of Poker Main Event, poker pro Jonathan Duhamel talked about donating some of his winnings to the Montreal Canadiens Childrens Foundation. It seems he has kept his word, and recently donated a generous $100, 000. He Presented the cheque to Club President Pierre Boivin just before watching the hockey match between the Montreal Canadiens and the Anaheim Ducks in Montreal, hockey being his second favourite sport behind poker. During the match, Duhamel appeared on the jumbotron screen, and received a loud ovation from the crowd for his generosity.
The Montreal Canadiens Childrens Foundation provides support and help to children who are underprivileged and in need all over the province of Quebec. Since being founded in August 2000, the group has generated over $10 million in finds to improve the lives of young people. Interests include health, welfare and promotion of an active lifestyle among children. Jonathan Duhamel, who regularly participates in online casino sites and online poker rooms, has stated that he is thrilled to be involved with such a good cause, and is proud to give something back to the community.
